Her Early Years
Mary Taylor Zimbalist was born in New York City on February 13, 1915 to one of New York's prominent families. Mary’s father, Bertrand L Taylor, was the youngest ever Governor of the New York stock exchange. She remembers being a small girl waiting in her father’s chauffer--driven green Hispano-Suiza, outside the Wall Street stock exchange for her father to leave work. Mary frequently said that her father didn’t know what to do with her until she became old enough to behave properly in good restaurants.
